Portrait of Takara Henegar

“I have the opportunity to work alongside the talented staff and community affiliates at Minnesota Philanthropy Partners. I’m excited to grow my skills and knowledge, addressing social justice and racial justice issues through the lens of philanthropy.”

Takara works as an Associate Program Officer for The Saint Paul & Minnesota Community Foundations. She drives community investment through the Foundation’s Management Improvement Fund, Diversity Endowment Funds and the Building Community Capacity grants.

Takara brings 19 years of diverse nonprofit experience to the Foundations, in addition to her Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University. Her most recent roles spanned fund development at Como Friends, People Serving People and Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative.

As a former community organizer and direct service provider, Takara’s insights benefit from exposure to many issue areas including education, arts, housing and homelessness.

Outside of work, Takara enjoys spending time with her family and immersing herself in Minnesota’s music scene. She has a particular passion for hip hop, co-hosting a web program called Versed Radio for the past two years.
