Sharon DeMark

“I worked for many years in the performing arts and through those experiences witnessed over and over again the magical power of people working together to solve problems and make something beautiful. Working at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation offers me an opportunity to collaborate on a much bigger stage as we pull together to create a vibrant community for all.”

As Program Officer, Sharon supports the work of nonprofit organizations throughout the metro and the state. Sharon is responsible for reviewing grantmaking in several key areas, including arts and humanities, older adults and legal services. Through her role, Sharon works alongside community members who work or volunteer at nonprofit organizations and is consistently in awe of their commitment to making community more equitable and vibrant for all.

Sharon joined the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation in 2007. She brought 25 years of prior experience working at theaters and performing arts centers helping to connect youth, educators, families and the public with transformative arts experience. Sharon received her master’s in arts administration from the University of Wisconsin and her bachelor’s in creative drama from the University of Virginia.

Outside of work, Sharon is a watercolor artist. She recently collaborated with poet Margaret Hasse on a book of poems and paintings entitled “Shelter,” published by Nodin Press. Sharon lives in Saint Paul with her family and loves seeing live theater and music and biking along the Mississippi.
